Our birds come to our farm when they are just a day old, cute and fluffy. They spend their first couple of weeks in a brooder, which is a safe, draft free, temperature controlled environment. When they are old enough to deal with the environment, they are moved outside to portable pens on pasture. This allows them to forage for grass, clovers and bugs, breathe fresh air and soak up vitamin D from the sun. Our pastured bird’s meat has a firmer texture, higher levels of Omega-3’s and a lower fat content. Eggs from organically-fed pastured birds are superior in taste, looks and nutritional value! They have less cholesterol and saturated fat, and more of the fat-soluble vitamins A,D & E. These nutrients are essential to maintaining healthy function of the heart, immune system and brain.
